Hello! My name is Melissa Benoit and I am the art teacher at Jackson Elementary School.
 
This will be an exciting school year in art as students “travel back through time” to study ancient art. We will visit Mexico, Egypt as well as other countries. Students will also have numerous opportunities for artistic growth and continuing art education through the exploration of many different mediums, ranging from paint to pottery! We will expand our knowledge of the Principles of Art and the Elements of Art!
 
Students will learn art terms by participating inan interactive “Art Vocabulary Wall” and become knowledgeable of art history and artists, also! Various opportunities will be made available to students who are interested in participating in art contests and UIL Art during the school year!
 
Displays of art work will be available for viewing at our Jackson campus as well as other locations in Abilene.
