My name is Ali Holamon and I am one of the instructors for Health Science Technology at Holland Medical High School. I teach HST II which is a junior year course during which students may earn the designation of Certified Nurse’s Aide. I also teach HST III, Emergency Care Attendant, in which students learn the advanced skills and knowledge associated with a career in the Emergency Medical System. HST III is a senior year course. The HST courses are challenging and require dedication from each student.

I am an Abilene native and graduated from Abilene High School.  Go Eagles!! I attended nursing school at the Patty Hanks Shelton school of Nursing and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from McMurry University.  Prior to teaching, I worked as an oncology nurse at the Cancer Center of Hendrick Medical Center. I have been married for 6 ½ years and we have two sons. Carson is four years old and Charlie is nine months old.

The healthcare profession is an excellent field for a young person to consider. I am sure that you are aware of the shortage in most areas of healthcare and anyone entering this field has ample opportunity and choices. The HST courses are challenging and require dedication from each student.

The best thing about my class is the interest and commitment of the students. Students are able to take their knowledge and skills from the classroom and apply it in the clinical setting. It is an amazing transition and a joy to watch the student’s blossom! Their curiosity and energy keeps me on my toes!!
