Advisory Program

Our Student Advisory program is dedicated to building strong, meaningful relationships with our students. It's important that we take time to know who are students are in order to help them get to where they want to be in life.  Through our advisory program, our teachers are able to provide guidance and leadership.  Our expectation is that our students will understand the commitment that it takes to achieve their college dream and that hard work is necessary.  In the last month of school, we adjusted our advisory program to better facilitate the relationship building that we expected from this time.  Our new format allows for teachers to create their own 4 week session based upon their skill sets and desires of the students.  For example, some of our teachers offered workshops on "Car Maintenance for Girls," "The Music Industry," "Latin Dancing," "Boomerang Making," and "Landscaping for A.T.E.M.S."  Our students were given an opportunity to sign up for the workshop that they want to learn more about.  This allowed for more student interest and interaction.  We hope to continue to do this throughout the 2012-2013 school year.

Conference System 101
Welcome to the new year and to our new Advisory - Conference System.  This school year, we have implemented a new advisory program.  With college always being our focus, we decided to use a "conference" system to build smaller learning communities.  We have created 5 conferences with four teams each that consist of each grade level.  Each team consists of 12-16 students assigned to one teacher.
