Fifth grade is critical in the preparation for middle school. Students will be responsible for turning in assignments on time, keeping up with schedules, completion of homework, and managing materials while switching classes. We will have some special activities for fifth grade, for example: the ROPES Course, end of year swim party, 5th grade spelling bee, art lessons from The Grace Museum, and the end of year talent show! We also take TAKS tests in Math, Reading and Science. To prepare students for these tests, we have to study hard!
Here are a few highlights of what we will study this year: In math, we will be utilizing Reasoning Minds, a computer based math lab that teaches fifth grade math objectives. In reading we will study many different literature genres, point of view, story elements, and figurative language. In science we will do many hands on activities to explore concepts such as mass and gravity, electricity and force, and factors that affect the environment. Be prepared to have a fast and fabulous 5th grade year!
