The daily responsibilities of the nurse at Johnston include dealing with minor complaints, first aide and illness of students and staff; administering medications and treatments, testing for special programs, keeping immunizations current and recording for student records, referrals to private and community resources, wellness, prevention and safety instruction and follow-up on absentee problems.

Screening performed include vision, hearing, scoliosis, pediculosis, heights and weights twice a year, yearly & prn blood pressure checks.  Health education includes nutrition, growth & development, dental care and asthma management.
