Rodney Goodman

Rodney Goodman, a veteran of the Abilene Fire Department and longtime community servant began his term on the AISD Board of Trustees in May 2020.

Goodman grew up in Washington state before moving to Abilene to attend Abilene Christian University where he graduated with a BBA in Accounting. Goodman has served the citizens of Abilene as a firefighter with the Abilene Fire Department for the last 34 years. He is currently an EMT-Advanced and Captain at station 8. He also works part-time as the Finance and Operations Director for the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature.

Goodman is heavily involved in the community and currently serves as a Lunch Buddy with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters organization. He has been involved with Thomas Elementary, Lincoln Middle School and Craig Middle School PTO’s. He was a past AISD Boundary Committee member. He has been a coach, manager, and/or treasurer with Key City Little League, Abilene South Junior League and Abilene Youth Basketball Association. In addition, he was a scout volunteer and treasurer with Boy Scout Troop 232. Goodman also served as a trustee and chair of the Abilene Firemen’s Relief and Retirement Fund.

Goodman is married to Laura, an AISD dyslexia interventionist. They have three children, Karsten, Katelyn and Kenzie, all graduates of Abilene High School and AC. Goodman and his wife are members of Hillcrest Church of Christ where they serve as university life group sponsors.
