Abilene ISD is pleased to announce that Ginger Held has been selected to serve as the next Dean of Holland Medical High School. Held will replace Kathy Walker, who plans to retire at the end of the school year after 30 years of dedicated service to AISD students. In addition to her new duties at Holland, Held will also provide direction for all elementary and secondary counselors in AISD.

Held has more than 30 years of experience in education and is currently the secondary lead counselor at Cooper High School. She began her teaching career in Abilene ISD in 1993 as a middle school physical education teacher before spending more than a decade as a science and P.E. teacher in Clyde ISD. Held then joined CHS in 2011 as a school counselor, providing support to students in academic planning, college and career readiness, and more.

“It is my honor and privilege to serve as the new Dean of Holland Medical High School,” Held said. “My goal is to encourage students to strive for excellence in their educational endeavors and future careers. I also look forward to working with the team of passionate, student-centered educators at Holland.”

Held holds a master’s degree in education with an emphasis on school counseling from Sul Ross State University and a bachelor’s degree from McMurry University.
