Abilene ISD Executive Director of Athletics Jim Garfield announced Thursday that the district has hired Cory Oglesby as the new head girl’s soccer coach at Abilene High School.

Oglesby spent the past six years as head soccer coach at Keller High School and brings nearly 20 years of coaching and teaching experience to AISD. Prior to her time in Keller, Oglesby held the head girls soccer coach positions at Reedy High School, Brewer High School, and Little Elm High School, where she was selected as the District 9-5A Coach of the Year. She began her coaching career as assistant men and women’s soccer coach at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

“Thank you to Abilene ISD, Coach Garfield, and the hiring committee for the incredibly warm welcome and belief in me to lead this tradition-filled program,” Oglesby said. “I am very excited to make a lifelong impact on this team and its players. I know Abilene High is known for winning, and our goal is to take that and grow our legacy even further.”

Oglesby earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she also competed on the women’s soccer team. She earned a master’s degree in sports administration from Henderson State University in 2007.
