The unique diversity of Lee Elementary School was on parade May 18 at the “We Lead: A Celebration of Diversity and Leadership” program.

Students representing 19 various countries marched in an Olympic-style parade, carrying the flag of their home nation. The students then introduced themselves and recited a phrase in their own language.

Lee Elementary serves as the district’s Newcomer Center Campus. First through fifth grade students who are new to the United States attend Lee for their first year of school. More than 14 home languages are represented in the school’s population.

In addition to the parade, students were featured in performances and group participation activities. Following the program, tours of the school took guests to classrooms throughout the campus, where students introduced Leader in Me activities and presentations.
