Ortiz and Thomas Elementary Schools will begin a "sunset" year in 2025-26, each serving only grades 2-5 before being repurposed in 2026-27. We understand the significant impact this change will have on staff over the next two years and want to assure you that each staff member will retain a place of employment in AISD.

Over the next two days (Jan. 14-15), Associate Superintendent for the Development of Human Resources Alison Sims and Director of Human Resources Chris Bailey will visit your campus to meet individually with each staff member. During these meetings, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and share your preferences for your next placement. We anticipate sharing new assignments in March
