Ortiz and Thomas Elementary Schools will begin a "sunset" year in 2025-26, each serving only grades 2-5 before being repurposed in 2026-27. We understand the significant impact this change will have on staff over the next two years and want to assure you that each staff member will retain a place of employment in AISD.

Associate Superintendent for the Development of Human Resources Alison Sims and Director of Human Resources Chris Bailey visited Thomas and Ortiz on January 14-15 to meet individually with each staff member. During these meetings, staff had the opportunity to ask questions and share preferences for placement. We anticipate sharing new assignments for the 2025-26 school year by spring break (March 10).
