Abilene ISD elementary schools are excited to welcome your kindergarten student for the upcoming school year!

Our full-day kindergarten program offers a nurturing and supportive learning environment designed to build a strong foundation for success in all academic areas.

To enroll in kindergarten, your child must be 5 years old on or before September 1. Families should register their child at their zoned campus, unless their zoned campus is part of the School Choice Pilot Program (see more information below).

In the 2025-26 school year, AISD will pilot a school choice pilot program to offer more options for families seeking innovative teaching and learning. The participating schools are Martinez, Purcell, and Stafford elementaries. New-to-AISD kindergarten students whose home address is in an attendance zone for one of the cohice campuses are invited to participate, space allowing.

Please note that Ortiz and Thomas elementary schools will not accept new students in 2025-26. If your student is zoned to attend one of these schools, click here for more information.
