The school choice pilot program application will open Monday, Jan. 27 and will be available here.
School Choice Pilot Program Campuses
What is the School Choice Pilot Program?
In the 2025-26 school year, Abilene ISD will pilot a school choice program to offer more options for families seeking innovative teaching and learning. The participating schools are Martinez, Purcell, and Stafford elementaries.
If your student currently attends or is zoned to one of these schools (Martinez, Purcell, or Stafford), you have first priority for remaining in these schools. However, if you're interested in choosing another choice campus, use this page to find helpful information and explore your options.
How do I participate in the program?
If you would like to attend a school from the School Choice Pilot Program other than the one you currently attend, you will need to submit a school choice application. Applications open on Monday, January 27.
For more details about the application process and campus preview nights, see the information below.
I plan to stay at my current campus.
If you are not interested in switching campuses, you do not have to submit a school choice application or take any additional steps.
Martinez
The Martinez Tigers take pride in fostering a positive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive and achieve their full potential. Starting in the 2025-26 school year, Martinez will host Abilene ISD's Bilingual Program, offering students the opportunity to develop or enhance their Spanish language skills and grow as bilingual learners.
Martinez is conveniently located near downtown Abilene on Merchant Street.
Purcell
Nestled in a quiet residential area in northwest Abilene, Purcell Elementary is a neighborhood campus known for its strong parent and community involvement. The Jaguars are dedicated to fostering diverse, empowered, and responsible learners who make a positive impact within the Purcell community and beyond.
Purcell's innovative design includes grade-level learning pods and mobile libraries.
Stafford
Stafford Elementary School is one of AISD's most innovative elementary campuses. The school participates in the Ron Clark Academy education model, which utilizes a "House System,” to create a positive climate and culture for students and staff. The system provides learning and leadership communities for schools. Each House has unique properties such as its color, symbols, nation of heritage, history, and more.
Stafford is located on the corner of North 10th and Pioneer Drive.
