The National Council for the Social Studies defines Social Studies as the integrated study of the social sciences and humanities to promote civic competence. AISD strives to provide all students with learning opportunities that ignite their passion for learning and enhance their ability to become engaged citizens of a culturally diverse world. Additionally, AISD endeavors to empower students to understand the past, identify their responsibilities in the present, and use their experiences to positively impact the future.
