McCutcheon-Ortiz

Abilene ISD is pleased to announce that Kimberly McCutcheon has been selected to serve as the next principal of Ortiz Elementary School.

McCutcheon brings more than 20 years of professional education experience to her new role in AISD. Since 2004, she has held a wide range of teaching and administrative roles, including five years as an assistant principal and two years as an elementary school principal in Harlingen CISD. She was recently recognized as the Region One Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) member of the year and serves as president-elect for that professional organization.

McCutcheon’s selection follows the departure of outgoing principal Carmen Crane, who left Ortiz this summer to pursue other opportunities.

“I am excited to join the Ortiz All Star family,” McCutcheon said. “My goal is to create an environment where every student feels confident to take risks and knows that they can achieve great things. I firmly believe that every child can learn, and it is my responsibility to discover the best ways to support each students’ unique journey.”

McCutcheon holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio, a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction from Colorado Christian University, and a leadership certificate from UTSA.
