Taylor Elementary School principal Leslye Roberts is getting ready for her fourth year leading one of Abilene ISD’s largest elementary schools and will take on the school year with some additional leadership responsibilities outside of her campus.
Roberts – recently honored as the 2024 Region 14 TEPSAN of the Year by the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA) – has been selected as the Region 14 TEPSA President.
As the region's president, she and the other region presidents will help lead the association’s strategic direction and positively impact legislators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to ensure quality pre-K through 8th grade education for all Texas Students.
“TEPSA’s Board of Directors plays a critical role in advancing the association’s mission,” TEPSA Executive Director Harley Eckhart said. “We appreciate their dedication to supporting and advocating for Texas PK-8th grade school leaders.”
Roberts will serve a two-year term as president, with each regional president (20 total) serving on the TEPSA Board of Directors and participating in leadership and professional development training. In her role, Roberts will work alongside other regional presidents to help guide the association’s strategic direction-making processes and positively impact legislators, policymakers, and other stakeholders to ensure high-quality education for all Texas students from pre-K to 8th grade.
"I am privileged to serve as the president of Region 14 for TEPSA," said Roberts, who previously served as the president-elect for Region 14. "Through the regional and state TEPSA initiatives, I aim to contribute to leadership training, networking opportunities, and support for school leaders in our region. We are working to raise awareness and support for principals in this area who are dedicated to providing education for all students."
