The Abilene ISD Communications team represented the district at the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Annual Conference in February, where they were recognized for outstanding work in school public relations during the 2023-24 school year. This recognition includes being named a finalist for a prestigious Crystal Commendation Award and winning two Best of Category awards. Additionally, AISD proudly earned nine Gold Stars and four Silver Stars in recognition of school communications excellence.
The awards were presented on Feb. 19 during the 2025 TSPRA Annual Conference Star Awards Banquet in San Antonio. The award ceremony recognizes exceptional work across the state in print, electronic, and visual communications. Judges evaluated thousands of submissions statewide and determined the winners based on criteria set by TSPRA.This is the district’s first time to participate in the award program.
Abilene ISD Director of Communications Dr. Jordan Ziemer was also inaugurated as the association’s President-Elect at the conference. This begins a three-year term in statewide leadership for Dr. Ziemer, who will work with communications professionals in every region across Texas to promote better engagement with and advocacy for public school communities.
The Texas School Public Relations Association is the largest association for school public relations professionals in the country. TSPRA and its 1,000+ members enhance public education in Texas by promoting effective public relations, providing professional development, and strengthening communication between communities and public schools.
