Abilene ISD announced Monday that Kami Williamson has been named the next head coach for the Abilene High School girls basketball program.
“I am excited to welcome a leader of Kami’s caliber to Abilene High,” said Abilene High Principal Emme Siburt. “Our student-athletes and staff will all benefit from her exceptional track record of success on the court and in the classroom.”
Williamson brings a wealth of experience to Abilene High, most recently serving as the head girls basketball coach at Cedar Park High School in Leander ISD where she led the team to a UIL Class 5A State Semifinal appearance in 2024 and a Regional Finalist finish in 2025. Prior to leading the program, she served as assistant coach during Cedar Park’s back-to-back UIL Class 5A state championships in 2021 and 2022. In 2024, she was named the Texas Girls Coaches Association 5A-6A Coach of the Year and the Austin Area Girls Coach of the Year.
Before her time in Cedar Park, Williamson coached at Eldorado and Menard High Schools, leading multiple teams to UIL playoff appearances and earning District Coach of the year and All West Texas Co-Coach of the Year honors.
“I cannot wait to start working with the Abilene High athletes and writing the next chapter for the basketball program,” Williamson said. “Abilene High is a school with a rich tradition. I look forward to being a part of that and building relationships with the students, athletes, school and the Abilene community.”
Williamson earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree in kinesiology from San Angelo State University, where she also earned a school counselor’s certification.
