Twenty-seven Abilene ISD students received national recognition for their academic achievements.
ATEMS students Sophia Hudson and Judah Jackson were both recognized for scoring in the top three percent of the PSAT/National Merit Scholarships Qualifying Test, earning each a National Merit Letter of Commendation for exceptional academic promise. The National Merit Scholarships Corporation highlights about 34,000 Commended students from across the country each year.
Twenty-five other AISD students received College Board National Recognition, which recognizes the academic achievements of rural, African American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, Indigenous/Native American, or first-generation students. In order to earn the recognition, students scored in the top 10 percent of PSAT test takers in Texas, earned a 3 or higher in two or more AP exams, and earned a cumulative GPA of B+ or higher.
