About Purcell
Welcome to Purcell Elementary & the Jaguar Family! Our teachers and staff work together with you, our families, to nurture and grow students academically, social-emotionally, & physically to reach their full potential.
Purcell Elementary, a Title 1 campus with an enrollment of about 700 students, sits in a quiet residential area in northwest Abilene. Purcell is truly a neighborhood and community school. Before and after school hours, the grounds around the school are used by playing children, parents and children walking dogs, joggers, cyclists, and skateboarders.
Purcell is known for great parent (and family) involvement and for a supportive PTA. Partnership with Hardin-Simmons University, St. Paul Methodist Church, and other community groups enhances the academic performance of all of our Purcell students. With a wonderful mix of students with varying ethnic and cultural backgrounds, Purcell is a true multi-cultural school with a great community base.
