Abilene ISD is pleased to announce that Mrs. Patti Blue has been named associate superintendent for curriculum and instruction. In this role, Blue will lead the development, implementation, and assessment of classroom instruction and educational programs in AISD. Blue replaces Dr. Ketta Garduno, who left AISD this summer to pursue other opportunities after more than 14 years of distinguished service to the district.

Blue brings over 33 years of experience in education to AISD and most recently served as superintendent of schools for Gustine ISD. Under her leadership, Gustine ISD experienced strong success in achieving positive outcomes for students. In addition to increasing dual credit and industry-based certification programs, Blue led GISD to improve its Texas Accountability System rating from Improvement Required to Met Standard with Distinctions.

“Being able to come home to Abilene ISD is an honor and a privilege,” Blue said. “Abilene ISD schools have a long, rich history of success. I am thrilled to be able to help continue and grow that success for all current and future students. It is an exciting time to be working alongside AISD administrators, teachers, and staff.”

Blue began her professional career in Amarillo ISD before joining AISD as a teacher at Abilene High School in 1991. She also spent 10 years as a curriculum consultant for the Region 14 Education Service Center, which provides resources and support for school districts across the Big Country.

“Bringing Patti Blue back to Abilene is a win for Abilene ISD students, families, and schools,” said Dr. John Kuhn, AISD Superintendent of Schools. “She will be instrumental in helping our district keep teaching and learning excellence at the core of everything we do.”

Blue holds a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University, a master’s degree from Tarleton State University, and a superintendent’s certification from The University of Texas Permian Basin.
