The Abilene ISD Administration Building will open its doors to the public to take part in the annual City Sidewalks celebration, which is set for Tuesday, Dec. 3. From 5 to 6 p.m., the public is invited into the building for cookies and punch, choir performances, and festive decorations.
At 6:30 p.m., the Abilene Downtown Association will usher in the Christmas season with the annual FOX West Texas Christmas Lights Parade through the heart of downtown Abilene. In addition to marching in the parade, Abilene ISD Fine Arts students will perform at various downtown venues beginning at 5:30 p.m.
The Abilene High and Cooper bands and drill teams will march in the FOX West Texas Christmas Lights Parade, which will take a different route this year because of the ongoing construction on Cypress Street. That project will move the parade route from going north on Oak, under the South 1st overpass, right on North 1st, north on Walnut to North 6th, where the parade will take a right and then go south on Pine Street under the South 1st overpass, finally stopping near the Taylor County Courthouse on Chestnut.
