Fine Arts educators with a plaque recognizing their awarded distinction

For the first time in the program's history, the Abilene ISD Theater program has been awarded the Outstanding District distinction by the Texas Educational Theatre Association (TxETA).

The TxETA recently developed its award program as a means to recognize school districts for their outstanding contributions toward raising the standards of theater education in the state. In order to receive an award, districts must submit an application and receive a score based on a rubric of criteria. Award criteria includes, but is not limited to:

  • Access to district-provided theater curriculum

  • Availability of facilities

  • Access to technology

  • Number of theater performances

Abilene ISD was designated as an Outstanding District, the second-highest distinction available in the award program. Congratulations to these Fine Arts educators!
