The Abilene ISD McKinney-Vento Homeless Services Program will host a Human Trafficking Awareness and Education Event Saturday, Oct. 19 in partnership with the Big Country Regional Victim Crisis Center Human trafficking Coalition.
The event aims to spread awareness around myths and misconceptions about human trafficking, signs of grooming and recruiting, and risk factors for individuals experiencing homelessness.

Attendees can look forward to door prizes and special remarks from guest speakers Brandon Gurganus, a victim services specialist with Abilene’s Child Advocacy Center, and 326th District Court Judge April Propst.
The event will take place from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. at the Hartford Center, 5340 Hartford St., Abilene, TX 79605.
