Abilene ISD Lyndsey Williamson Executive Director of Secondary Education

Abilene ISD is pleased to announce that Lyndsey Williamson has been named executive director of secondary education. In this role, Williamson will oversee the implementation of middle and high school curriculum and promote high-quality instruction at the secondary level.

Williamson is an established leader in Abilene ISD, having served 19 of her 20 years in education in the district. Since 2019, she has led Cooper High School as principal, overseeing the school's academic and operational initiatives, driving curriculum development, and ensuring alignment with district and state standards and goals.

“I’m thankful for the six years I have spent as principal at Cooper High School, where I had the privilege of working with amazing educators, students, and families,” Williamson said. “There are so many exciting things happening in Abilene ISD, and I look forward to continuing to support our secondary students and campuses in this new capacity.”

Williamson began her professional career in Abilene ISD as a math teacher at Mann Middle School in 2005. In addition to her role as principal at Cooper, Williamson also served as a guidance counselor at Abilene High School for six years, principal of Holland Medical, and associate principal at Cooper High School.

“Lyndsey is a passionate leader with proven experience in secondary instruction and leadership,” Superintendent Dr. John Kuhn said. “I am confident she will ensure that our teachers will have the tools they need to be successful at the secondary level.”

Williamson holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Angelo State University, where she also earned a principal’s certification.

Cooper High School Dean of Instruction Ashley West will serve as interim principal while the district searches for the next full-time leader at CHS.
