Teachers in the Limelight Celebration nominations open now

The Abilene Education Foundation is now accepting nominations for the 2025 Teachers in the Limelight Celebration through Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Each year, the Abilene Education Foundation celebrates stand-out teachers  in Abilene ISD based on nominations by AISD administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students (current and former), and community members.

AEF board members select the winners in several categories. A Teacher in the Limelight is passionate and inspiring, uses motivational strategies to encourage learning, balances traditional teaching methods while being open to new ideas, and actively contributes to campus goals.

Those who can be nominated are the following:

  • Math & Science: Certified secondary math or science teachers.

  • Fine Arts: Certified elementary and secondary fine arts teachers.

  • Coaches: Certified teachers with at least one UIL coaching responsibility.

  • Counselors: Certified counselors whose primary duties are in counseling services.

Winning teachers will receive the following:

  • Math & Science: 6 finalists will receive $500, with an additional $1,000 for the top Math and Science teacher.

  • Fine Arts: One finalist will receive a $1,500 stipend and a subscription to the Abilene Philharmonic.

  • Coach & Counselor: One finalist in each category will receive a $500 stipend.
